Vintage leather-bound booklet of “De Witt’s Base-Ball Guide for 1875” is, according to its preface, “a complete record of the doings of the ball playing fraternity on the field during 1874. Among the new features are the scores of the games played by the base-ball tourists in England, together with a sketch of each player.” That section (Pg.50) is a finely written overview of the first baseball teams to play outside of the U.S. in a series of exhibition games, and includes sketches of the likes of A.G. Spalding, Harry Wright, James White, and James O’Rourke of the Boston Red Stockings, and James Clapp, A.C. Anson, James McBride, and M.H. McGeary of the Philadelphia Athletic Blue Stockings. Binding is secure, though has some staining on inside of front and back covers. Writing in back note pages, with tiny roster clippings affixed.
