Tremendous renderings from noted sports cartoonists Lou Darvis and Karl Hubenthal. The Darvis (16 ½ x 14 ¼”) has fun with the home run mythology in baseball, depicting Babe Ruth as the king which around all else orbits, including the past - Lajoie, Baker, Freeman - and the future - Mickey Mantle, who here claims to “keep in th’ family.” Hubenthal’s measures 15x13”, and pokes at fun at DiMaggio’s chances of entering the 3,000th Hit Club. Both are pen & ink original newspaper art, with production notes and marks, and signed by the artists.
