This magnificent bronze is of the heavyweight champion fighter John L. Sullivan. It was done in the early 20th century. The fighter is in full boxing pose. He is bare fisted wearing boxing shoes and togs of the late 19th century. The magnificent base has boxing scenes surrounding the perimeter. It is signed on the base by the German artist Waagen. This bronze is in magnificent condition. Beautiful aged patina. No scratches. 27" high. Base is 7" x 12." One of the finest boxing bronzes of John L. Sullivan brought to public sale.
