Lot 370: James Naismith’s Basketball Whistle
ITEM DESCRIPTION
Notes: Rawlings made whistle is one of only two known pieces of game used James Naismith material that exists. The other is also whistle. Probably used while coaching for Kansas. “J.N.” is scratched on one side. The attachment at the bottom allowed Naismith to hold the whistle on two fingers while blowing it. How many game used relics can actually be attributed to the inventor of any major sport?
Condition: Well used with several scratches and scuffs on the surface. No bends and the whistle works just fine.
