This is a high quality plaster mold was to cast the plaque that hangs at Yankee Stadium. This mold was a large prototype and the likeness it bears to Gehrig is uncanny. The mold is in EX-MT condition, the only blemishes are a few minor chips, each of which measures smaller than 1/8". The mold measures 10 x 12" and is adhered to a board which has then been framed making the overall size of the display approx. 16 x 19". The plaster mold has been tinted a yellow ochre color and the detail in the casting is outstanding. There are few players in baseball history that had as profound effect on the sport as Gehrig did and his tragic end served only to further his iconic image.
