Lot 824: 1870's Baseball Carte de Visites (2)

Resplendent pair are of the same gentleman and likely came from his estate. One is with a "T" on the jersey for the London Tecumseh',s a major Canadian team from the mid to late 1800's. He wears a magnificent bib front uniform and holds a marvelous period baseball sun hat. It is on a pink mount, which was commonly used in the 1870's. Verso photographer's stamp is Frank Cooper of London, Ontario. In the other he is wearing a period baseball uniform with a maple leaf. This team is unknown but based on the quality of the uniform it is undoubtedly one of the finest. Note his marvelous baseball shoes and socks. On the back is written in vintage pencil "Can" or "Gan." Both images are very clean with perfect contrast and overall EX-MT condition.
