ITEM DESCRIPTION

||||||||||||
Fascinating Edmonton Oilers jersey with Hall of Fame collection implications. Not only was this jersey worn by Captain Ron Chipperfield for a large portion of the 1979-80 season, but it was also worn by Paul Coffey during the 1980-81 pre-season when he first arrived at the NHL level in the fall of 1980. Evidence of the Captain's "C" being removed from the left chest. Maska Superfil (no size listed) blue road jersey with Maska tag in neck and logo embroidered on the rear right hem. "Edmonton 1904-1979 - 75th Anniversary" patch is sewn on the right shoulder. "7" appears on both sleeves and the back. "Chipperfield" is screened onto the nameplate, which was removed after he was traded on March 11, 1980. No nameplates were worn during the 1980-81 pre-season which is documented on an Edmonton Oilers history website, however, the original Chipperfield nameplate was re-attached to the jersey. Small loop style fight strap sewn inside the back. Numerous repairs with the majority on the front. Shows phenomenal use with countless stick marks, heavy board burns, un-repaired holes, and paint transfers throughout. Extensive pilling inside at the elbows and near the cuffs. Accompanied by a MeiGray LOA and a photo-match of Paul Coffey wearing this exact jersey from the 1980-81 pre-season.
