What an incredible find! This is an original official All-Star Game scorecard/program from the host American League Baseball Club of New York, The Yankees. The 1939 scorecard is made even more special by the fact that it is a Centennial edition celebrating 100 years of baseball, but it gets much better than that. The front and back covers are filled with vintage signatures (pencil) including that of the 1939 Honorary Captain Lou Gehrig. And this during a year (1939) Gehrig is well known for not having signed autographs. Some of the other notable signatures on the piece include Jimmie Foxx, Joe Gordon, Joe Cronin, Red Rolfe, Bill Dickey, Roger Cramer, Rollie Hemsley, Myril Hoag, Joe DiMaggio, Lefty Gomez, Ernie Lombardi, Lonny Frey, Frank McCormick, Charlie Root, Terry Moore, Morrie Arnovich, Bob Feller, Stanley Hack, Ival Goodman, George Case, George McQuinn and more. The 27 signatures are all in pencil with varying degrees of pressure but quite clear and rate between 7 and 8.5. The Scorecard itself is in VG condition with minimal paper loss, slight edge wear/tears, and is neatly scored by its original owner. This is a rare opportunity to own an amazing gathering of tough vintage autographs from 1930's baseball.
