Jim Thorpe was signed to the New York Giants in 1913 and played for them sporadically over the next three seasons. He would return to the Giants again in 1917 and then again in 1918 after being traded and switching teams several times. This image dates from that period and on the left half of the 6 ½ x 8 ½ ” photograph taken by the Underwood studios of New York you see Jim Thorpe donning his Giants uniform. On the right side of the image the pitcher Schupp is captured. The photo was taken at Marlin Springs, Texas and the overall condition is EX. The tonal quality is very good and the picture is clear and sharp, there is almost no wrinkling and the edges are remarkably clean. What a great rendition of one of the greatest athletes of the 20th century.
