This 8 x 10” wire photo is dated May 9, 1947, just a few weeks following Babe Ruth Day, a celebration at Yankee Stadium commemorating one of its greatest players. He had recently undergone experimental cancer treatments in Europe. This photograph captures the Bambino on board a plane headed to Florida to continue his recovery. The condition of the photograph is VG/EX with some minor wrinkling but overall very good tonal qualities.
