This is a huge collection of images from the height of the prizefighters' career. A large number of the photos chronicle the lead up to and the actual 1961 middleweight title fight against London fighter Terry Downes where Pender successfully defended his title. There are also several publicity shots of Pender and his family as well as the April 1961 fight with Carmen Basillo. Photographs range in size from 4 x 10" to 8.5 x 12" and the quality grades from G to VG with some wrinkling and creasing and a fair amount of editorial markings since the collection is of news wire photos, many of which have the original news clippings attached to the verso.
