In 1939 Max Baer and Lou Nova fought to meet Joe Louis in the heavyweight title fight. The legendary Baer made it eleven rounds before the ref called a TKO and declared Nova the winner. These stunning images tell the story. Two images from their rematch in 1941 are also included, as well a hilarious gag pose after weight in, fine portrait, reading a magazine and more. Many of the photos have their original caption sheets attached to the verso. The condition of the lot ranges from VG to MT, with most NM/MT. Sized from 3x8" to 8x10".
