George Herman "Babe" Ruth, one of the greatest figures in sports history, died on August 16, 1948. This original list of honorary pallbearers at Ruth's funeral, is mint signed by Joe Dimaggio in blue ballpoint. It is typed on 8 1/2 x 11 bond paper with some names written in by hand. Names on the list (in addition to Dimaggio) include James Michael Curley, Mayor of Boston, Connie Mack, Ed Sullivan, Jack Dempsy, William O'Dwyer, Mayor of New York. It is in EX-NRMT condition. Probably one of a kind. The funeral took place August 19, at St. Patrick's Cathedral, New York. Babe Ruth died at age 53. His body lay in repose in Yankee Stadium before the funeral which was two days later. Ruth was then buried in the Cemetery of the Gate of Heaven in Hawthorne, New York.
