Joseph P. Kennedy, Jr., the eldest son of the prominent Irish American businessman by the same name, is the subject of this image. Wire photo is 6 1/2" x 8 1/2" and in EX-MT condition with only very minor creasing visible. Image shows him in a football stance during his days at Harvard. Joseph was the older brother of future President John F. Kennedy. He was expected to bear the family's political hopes but tragically died in battle in WWII. He had completed 25 combat missions and was eligible to return home, however he volunteered for an Operation Aphrodite mission in which he died on August 12, 1944.
