Lot 701: Amazing Collection of WWI Photos from Belgium (47)
Breathtaking photographs of Belgium from WWI. Many of the news service photos are circa 1914 and provide a chilling glimpse of what the German Army wrought there. Dead in the remnants of a Belgian bunker and bombed out buildings are just the beginning. 1920's reprints of photos taken a decade earlier show the plight of Belgian refugees, children piled into little carts pulled by pitiful looking dogs. Also included in the collection is an (NM) English translation of "The Belgian People's War" from Germany's Imperial Foreign Office and a (NM) 1915 report from The Commission for Relief in Belgium. Fine collection of historically important photos. Sized from 7 x 8.5" to 8 x 12" the photos range in condition from VG to NM.
