Bob Herwig was a football All-American for the Cal Bears, a decorated WWII veteran and the husband of Kathleen Winsor, the author of the bestselling novel of the 1940's. Here is a fine collection of (19) wire and San Francisco Examiner staff photographs that capture Herwig in each of these roles. Some wonderful quality photos here including several posed football 8x10's in NM+ condition. They date from 1935 to 1947 and measure 5x8 to 8x11". Mostly EX to NM with some better and few worse. Many have original caption sheets or news clippings affixed to versos.
