Lot 1755: Group of Four Items From the James Naismith Collection

Dr. James Naismith is credited with inventing the game of basketball. This grouping of four items he personally owned includes his own copy of "Constitution, By-Laws, and Laws of Athletics by the ICA (1891 ed.). Also in the lot is his resignation acceptance letter from the National Guard of Kansas and his typed manuscript "A Proposed Plan for the Military Training for the State of Kansas" which is hand annotated by Naismith. Lastly, his personal copy of Spalding's "Boxing" guide (1893 ed.). All four items come directly from the estate of Dr. James Naismith.
