Collection of wire photos (5) relating to the fan, Sal Durante, who caught Roger Maris's 61st home run at Yankee Stadium in 1961. Immediately after the famous game, Durante and Maris crossed paths, and Durante tried to give the ball to Maris who retorted, “keep the ball and make yourself some money kid”. Which is exactly what he did, receiving $5,000 and his honeymoon to bride Rosemarie paid in full in exchange for the ball. Photos range from 6 1/2" x 7" to 8" x 10" and are in EX-MT condition.
