James Jeffries was a former heavyweight of the world who had come back to the ring in 1910, having retired from the championship in 1905. This signed photograph from the 1910 period shows James Jeffries in a friendly bout with James Corbett, also a former world champion from 1892-1897. Jeffries was training for his approaching championship bout with the new champion Jack Johnson. Signed “Yours Truly James Corbett” in black fountain pen. Photo in excellent condition.
