On May 31, 1886 World Heavyweight Champion John L. Sullivan engaged in a grand sparring contest with Jack Dempsey (The Nonpareil), the World Middleweight Champion. Research indicates the match did take place as advertised between the two most notable fighters of the day. Presented here is a full, official ticket to this event. The ticket names both fighters and has a seat assignment. The ticket has been marked on the reverse as a complimentary ticket for the event. There are several small edge and corner chips. There is a crease in the paper ticket. This is the earliest known full ticket of John L. Sullivan and one of the very few of the Jack Dempsey (The Nonpareil). This is the only known example of this ticket.
