Lot 552: 1973-74 Harry Howell New Jersey Knights WHA Game Worn Jersey

ITEM DESCRIPTION

Reserve: $1,000.00
Winning Bid: $10,834.69
Price Realized: $12,947.45
Auction Date:11/30/2007 9:00 PM EST

Harry Howell had played more games than any defenseman in major- league hockey history by the time he retired, though he never won the Stanley Cup. Howell played in a total of 1,581 contests, 1,411 in the NHL and 170 in the World Hockey Association. Known as a dedicated, dependable player on the ice and a classy guy off it, Howell was a rarity…but not nearly as rare as this all original New Jersey Knights WHA jersey. Incredible Knights crest boldly affixed to the front. Cosby tagging in the collar and washing instructions tag with “50” written on it to the right of the Cosby tagging. Light sweat staining around the collar area. Original string in the lace-up collar. Stick marks pounded on the lower front. One sizable team repair on the lower back left of the #3 on the back. Pilling present inside both elbows and no fight strap inside. Howell’s name sewn directly to the back above the #3 in drop-shadow lettering. More pilling in the lower back hem area from the pants rubbing against the jersey. One of the finest WHA jerseys to ever surface in the hobby!
