Lot 238: Circa 1917 Ty Cobb Game Bat

ITEM DESCRIPTION

Reserve: $2,000.00
Winning Bid: $4,287.17
Price Realized: $5,123.17
Auction Date:11/30/2007 9:00 PM EST

If you don't want to spend $100,000 but want a Cobb bat this one is for you. Pro model Hillerich and Bradsby bat is classic Cobb with has name burned deep on the barrel. "125" and dash, dot, dash in the centerbrand. This bat was donated to the Clark Griffith Ball and Bat Fund and is stamped as such on the upper handle portion. Beautiful wood is 35 inches and 38 ounces. Knob is blank as it should be. Doubtful that it ever touched Cobb's hands but if it had he would have liked it as it is his pro model. Moderate use on barrel. Uncracked.
