College athletics are the subject of this huge lot (Approximately 500) of vintage news photos from the archives of the San Francisco Examiner. There is an exceptional variety of sports represented here. Plenty of swimming, diving, track & field skiing, ice skating, football, archery, crew, golf, fencing, polo, sailing, aquaplaning, tennis, water skiing, weightlifting and more. Many images capture the career 1948 Olympic swimming gold medalist Brenda Helser; great images of inter collegiate track from the 1920's & 30's ; spectacular 1931 photo of Frances Meany executing a beautiful dive at the A.A. U. championships at the Bronx Beach pool. Wide range of condition from Good to Mint, the majority falling in the middle of the range. Many have original news clippings affixed to verso and there is a mix of front caption wire photos and those with caption sheets. Sizes range from 3 x4" to 8 x 12".
