ITEM DESCRIPTION
|
||||||||||||
Kenesaw Mountain Landis, Commissioner of baseball, was not above
helping the boys celebrate a big win, as evidenced by a 1943 wire
photo of Landis being hoisted to the shoulders of the jubilant
Yankees. Other World Series related images in this lot: Landis
throwing out the first pitch of the '41 Series; calling game 3 of
that same series flanked by Joe McCarthy & Leo Durocher. A portrait
of Landis, for news publication, is also included here. The
fantastic original art, by Jack Lhstig, bears a striking resemblance
to the baseball legend. Photos are front captioned or have their
original caption sheets affixed to versos. Condition ranges from EX
to MT. Sized from 6.5 x 8.5" to 8 x 11".
