Fascinating assortment of images relating to brothers J.J. and J.B.
McNamara. On October 1st, 1910, dynamite was exploded on the side of
the Los Angeles Times building weakening the structure causing the
second floor to fall onto the first. The building came down on the
office workers below as fire erupted and spread quickly through the
three-story building. By the time the fire brigade had put out the
fire, twenty-one of the people working for the newspaper had died and
several more were seriously wounded. The pair of brothers were
arrested and charged with 21 counts of murder. Some believed this
was an act of terrorism to scare non-union workers working for the
Times. Eventually, the brothers eventually confessed to the crime
and J.B. was sentenced to life in San Quentin, while J.J. could not
be connected to the crime scene was sentenced to 15 years. Lots of
great images in the lot mostly taken during the trial of the
brothers, courtroom, lawyers, etc. There are even two original art
portraits done in pencil of the McNamara's. The vast majority of the
photos are dated 1911. Conditions range from VG to EX.
