New York City is no stranger to throwing ticker tape parades. From
Pershing to Lindbergh to Neil Armstrong, the Big Apple has welcomed
home all our returning American heroes. But perhaps no one was more
deserving of a parade than one Jesse Owens who in 1936 destroyed
Hitler’s myth of Aryan supremacy by winning triple gold in the Berlin
Summer Olympics. Offered here is an absolutely fabulous image of
Jesse Owens coming down Broadway to the cheers of a grateful nation.
Think about it. In 1936, before Joe Louis and way before Jackie
Robinson, a black man is the toast of America. The image measures 8
x 10 and is NM-Mint condition with brilliant contrast, clarity and
stunning composition.
