Lot 103: 1960 Rome Olympic Boxing Bronze Medal
ITEM DESCRIPTION
There are only a handful given out every four years, and Cassius Clay, a.k.a. Muhammad Ali, weighed the gold version around his neck during those 1960 Rome Olympics, while the silver went to Zbigniew Pietrzykowski of Poland, and it is believed, as this olive leaf-chained award was originally purchased in Italy, that this bronze medal belonged to the third-place champion of the light heavyweight division, Giulio Saraudi. All original, this glorious disc has “Pugilato” engraved in its bronze surface. Important not only as an Olympic medal but also as a boxing artifact. Comes with original chain.
