An absolutely stunning piece! This solid 14 karat match safe, known as a vesta case, was presented to Cap Anson for umpiring a baseball game. Eight real diamonds are set into a raised design resembling a horse shoe. In the middle of the horse shoe “ACA” is engraved in script standing for Adrian C. Anson. The back is engraved with “Oconomowac Country Club, July 29, 1905, Base Ball, Red Ravens 11, Blue Jays 10, Umpire Captain Anson.” The bottom is ribbed for lighting matches. On its own, this vesta case is beautiful, yet with the history attached to it, it’s downright amazing. EX-MT condition.
