This is a fight film poster for the 1908 Jack Johnson vs. Tommy Burns championship fight, a legendary match and one of the many times where sport has been used to openly challenge and defeat racism. In this case, Tommy Burns was brutally defeated along with it. With this victory Jack Johnson became the first African-American to win the coveted World Heavyweight Title, setting the stage for future greats like Sonny Liston, Cassius Clay and George Foreman.The colors are as vivid and clear as the day they were printed. Measuring 28" x 41", mounted on linen and is in EX-MT. The only thing preventing it from being NRMT is slight toning around the border. Extremely rare, one of only two known with the other being in very poor condition. Without a doubt this is one of the most beautiful posters we have ever seen.
