Incredible collection of panoramic images are rare pieces
shot by Examiner photographers and hence would only be in their Archive.
Historically important pieces are mostly all oversized and very few are
wire photos (they're better than wire photos!). It is all here with
individual files from the years 1930, 1931, 1932, 1933, 1934, 1935, 1936,
and 1938. Some of the best pieces include 1931 team posing with President
Hoover at the White House, incredible pose of the 1931 lineup on stadium
bench, 1931 team with Cal section stands all in white, Bill Ingram and his
1932 team, 1934 team coming right at you in running pose, action from ALL
the games and more. Many of these pieces are individual panoramas worth
hundreds of dollars each. This has to be seen to be believed. Overall
EX+. Size averages 8x10" with many larger. Many have their original
newspaper articles affixed to the versos.
This lot is from the legendary San Francisco Examiner Archive (SFXArchive).
This is one largest collections ever of historic vintage photos spanning the entire 20th century. The San Francisco Examiner was the first paper acquired by William Randolph Hearst and itself was the subject of the film classic Citizen Kane. The majority of the photographs are fully identified, and back-stamped with dates. Included throughout this auction is a diverse mix of subjects including sports, historical, political, transportation, Hollywood, and all facets of entertainment.
