||||||||||||
Stupendous steel engraving by renowned artist Hy Sandham. Produced in 1894, the print features a magnificent rendering of the Baltimore Orioles and New York Giants in action at the Polo Grounds during this 1894 Temple Cup which was in essence the "World Series" of the day. The piece is handcolored in the day and came in three different versions, with the color version being the most coveted (even to this day). The engraving is signed on the lower right border by the artist, Hy Sandham, in pencil. In gorgeous NRMT condition, it is beautifully preserved in a museum quality burled wood frame AND matting. Print itself measures about 33x49". One of the finest specimens we have ever seen and it is the kind of piece you build a baseball room around.
