Lot 1527: Bobby Seale Photo (1969)

In this photo taken during the demonstration outside the San Francisco Hall of Justice, Seale’s photo is seen on the front page of a newspaper held by one of his supporters underneath the headline “Kidnapped”. Inside, the co-founder of the Black Panthers was being tried along with other members of the “Chicago Eight” for inciting a riot the 1968 Democratic National Convention. NRMT. 10.5x7”.

This is one largest collections ever of historic vintage photos spanning the entire 20th century. The San Francisco Examiner was the first paper acquired by William Randolph Hearst and itself was the subject of the film classic Citizen Kane. The majority of the photographs are fully identified, and back-stamped with dates. Included throughout this auction is a diverse mix of subjects including sports, historical, political, transportation, Hollywood, and all facets of entertainment.
