Lot 1300: 1814 John Jackson Twice Signed Handwritten Notes

Gentleman John Jackson was a celebrated pugilist in the late 1700's. In 1795, he captured the only title of his career. He went to give boxing lessons to nobles, politicians and other well to do men, including Lord Byron. A recent discovery of hitherto unknown documents related to his lessons and the Pugilistic Club, of which he was one of the founders. The documents were mostly receipts/IOU's made out in Jackson's hand, like the two offered here on the same sheet, each containing his autograph as "Mr. Jackson" within the text. Page of paper is torn at the left side. Writing and signatures are ink and 8/10.
