ITEM DESCRIPTION

Reserve: $25.00
Winning Bid: $147.49
Price Realized: $176.25
Auction Date:12/15/2006 9:00 PM EST

During his time in the gang, Farina became both the series' anchor and its most popular character. While he was not the first black child actor (or even the first black Our Gang kid), Farina became arguably the first black child star. Allen Hoskins' last contract with the Hal Roach Studio called for $250 a week, more than any other kid was earning at that time. Original press clipping. NRMT. 9x7".

This lot is from the legendary San Francisco Examiner Archive (SFXArchive).
This is one largest collections ever of historic vintage photos spanning the entire 20th century. The San Francisco Examiner was the first paper acquired by William Randolph Hearst and itself was the subject of the film classic Citizen Kane. The majority of the photographs are fully identified, and back-stamped with dates. Included throughout this auction is a diverse mix of subjects including sports, historical, political, transportation, Hollywood, and all facets of entertainment.
