Lot 485: 2004 Pedro Martinez Sterling Silver World Series Trophy
The 2004 Boston Red Sox "reversed" the "Curse of the Bambino" to capture their first World Championship since 1918. Already the stuff of legend after their ALCS victory, their first pennant in New York in 100 years, the Sox went on to sweep the Cardinals in the World Series and bring the World Series Trophy back to Boston. A beautiful keepsake, this stunning silver trophy is tough to come by as World Series trophy's are only given to individuals of that Championship squad. Engraved in black on the sterling silver band on the base is "World Series Champions, Boston Red Sox, 2004, Pedro Martinez." The trophy features a crown atop an arc centerpiece over a baseball, surrounded by 30 team pennant flags on stanchions, one for each Major League team. The two World Series teams' logo pins (Red Sox and Cardinals) are mounted on small poles on the 7" diameter black base, in front of the baseball. EXMT-NRMT condition overall with very minor tarnishing. LOA.
