Lot 588: 1951 Don Mueller New York Giants Game Worn Uniform with Hat
ITEM DESCRIPTION

||||||||||||
UPDATE: This jersey was most likely made for Don Mueller to wear for the 1951 World Series but since he was injured during the 1951 playoffs, he did not play in the World Series.
The two-time All-Star better known as "The Magician" was a fan favorite during the glory days of the NY Giants. His gray "road" jersey was manufactured by MacGregor-Goldsmith and has their [size] "40" manufacturers tag and "Mueller" felt nameplate in the collar, with a "Set 2 1951" flag tag inside the tail. It's light use combined with the fact that this does not have the National League anniversary patch on the sleeve leads us to believe that this jersey was used in the 1951 World Series. The matching pants have the same "MacGregor-Goldsmith", "Set 2 1951", and "Mueller" indicators in the waist band. Dark blue wool leggings included. The cap is a McAuliffe [size] 6 7/8 from the same era but the player is unknown. A remarkable relic from the miraculous season of '51.
