Description
President Kennedy poses with the liberated Cuban leaders of the ill-fated invasion brigade who were freed by Fidel Castro early in the revolution of 1962 (Photo1). During their stay JFK held discussions with Manuel Artime, the ranking civilian officer representing the Cuban Revolutionary Committee, regarding the second wave of their invasion (Photo 2). In the final photo (a later print from 1965), Kennedy has a face to face with Deputy Premier Anastas Mikoyan during the U.S. blockade of Cuba. The two original wire photos have front captions. NRMT overall. Measure in size from 7.5x10"-8x10".

This lot is from the legendary San Francisco Examiner Archive (SFXArchive).
This is one largest collections ever of historic vintage photos spanning the entire 20th century. The San Francisco Examiner was the first paper acquired by William Randolph Hearst and itself was the subject of the film classic Citizen Kane. The majority of the photographs are fully identified, and back-stamped with dates. Included throughout this auction is a diverse mix of subjects including sports, historical, political, transportation, Hollywood, and all facets of entertainment.
