A collection of photos detail the day JFK was sworn into office and gave his often quoted "Ask not what your country can do for you, but what you can do for your country..." Inaugural Address. Scenes include that of him being sworn in by Chief Justice Warren (surrounded by Jackie, Nixon, L. Johnson, and Eisenhower), his arrival at the White House, with his cabinet members as they take their oath, leading the Inaugural parade down Pennsylvania, and many others. Original paper captions, press clippings, and press stamps can be found on most. EX+-EX-MT. Range in size from 5x7"-8x11", with one being smaller.
This lot is from the legendary San Francisco Examiner Archive (SFXArchive).
This is one largest collections ever of historic vintage photos spanning the entire 20th century. The San Francisco Examiner was the first paper acquired by William Randolph Hearst and itself was the subject of the film classic Citizen Kane. The majority of the photographs are fully identified, and back-stamped with dates. Included throughout this auction is a diverse mix of subjects including sports, historical, political, transportation, Hollywood, and all facets of entertainment.
