Lot 1118: Cap Anson Mounted Photograph

ITEM DESCRIPTION

Reserve: $200.00
Winning Bid: $359.89
Price Realized: $430.07
Auction Date:12/15/2006 9:00 PM EST

An absolutely stunning portrait of early baseball great “Cap” Anson, dressed to the nines, and photographed by renowned Chicago Rembrandt photo studio. Anson played most famously on the Chicago White Stockings, and played his best ball in the 1880’s, capturing two batting titles, and coming in second four times, while leading the league in many capacities. He was such a force to be reckoned with in these early years that the game itself eventually stepped up to his talents. The sport grew, and much of that was because of his accomplishments. Taken in the early part of the 20th century. Photo is NRMT, mount is VG-EX.
