Lot 141: 1936 Baseball All Star Game Program
ITEM DESCRIPTION

||||||||||||
Strangely, after the record setting attendance of the second All-Star game, the National League's first victory was witnessed by the smallest crowd ever to attend the event. The Newspaper stories had assured Bostonians that the game was a sellout, when in fact, the attendance was only 25,556 with 15,000 seats remaining empty. That fact, as well as time passed has made this 1936 All Star score card offering extremely rare. Originally inserted into the Official Game Program, it grades a strong EX only due to foxing, and is otherwise NRMT. Of note is the starting centerfielder listed that day, 21 year-old rookie, Joe DiMaggio. Unscored.
