Another pre-Big League offering from Hall of Famer Nellie Fox is this vintage baseball which marks one of the highlights of his career in the Minors. Used in play that day, this Official Minor League baseball was inscribed by Fox after his Red Roses team had won the League title in 1945. In black fountain pen is, “Clinched 1945 Pennant-Lancaster at Hagerstown-Sept. 9, 1945, Nelson Fox..” Portions were traced over at a later date but overall the notations are 6/10 and legible. Heavy game use and toning from age are apparent throughout.
