Dating from the period 1804-1812, these original engravings are beautifully
hand-colored, and caricature Napoleon as his glorious ambitions are exposed and thwarted at every turn. Published in London by Thomas Tegg, one of thelargest booksellers of the period, the 17" x 11" prints are extremely well struck and vividly colored. As a group, the prints provide a fascinating perspective on English public reaction to Napoleon and his wars, with anger and disdain fueling each of the images. In the 1812 print, the creatures and flames of Hell itself surround the fading Emperor as he brandishes a broken saber. Amazing! Overall EX.
