ITEM DESCRIPTION

||||||||||||
One of the finest known graded specimens of the only baseball card ever manufactured of the greatest Negro League player who ever lived, if not the greatest player, period, Josh Gibson. Graded SGC 40 VG 3, the card is well-centered, 50-50 top to bottom and 65-35 left to right. The card was slightly downgraded because there are minimal touches to all 4 corners. Additionally, there is some light toning to the blank-backed reverse and a very small bit of stock loss. Less than a dozen of these cards are known to still be in existence. In a previous auction, Lelands was proud to offer an SGC 88 NM-MT 8 example that sold for approximately $70,000. Card is 1-5/8 x 2-3/8".
