Mexican authorities seized an unarmed party of U.S. sailors while ashore at Tampico, Mexico on April 9, 1914. This was to be forever known as “The Tampico Incident". It led to President Woodrow Wilson’s seizing the Mexican customs house at Vera Cruz and the ultimate fall from power of the Mexican dictator General Victoriano Huerta. These 1914 silver gelatin prints are so delicate and beautiful.
