Lot 701: Al Capone's Speakeasy (1933)
ITEM DESCRIPTION

||||||||||||
One of the best images in the collection. Stunning image of Al Capone at his speakeasy the Happy Hollow Saloon in Wisconsin. He is standing at the bar with the famed bootlegger and Capone liquor supplier Ralph Sheldon (both with their feet up on barrels of booze). The signage is incredible. It teems with the look of the area, like a 1930's jalopy. Taken a few years earlier, this was printed in 1933 while Scarface Al Capone was in prison for tax evasion. Original paper caption. EX-MT. 8x10".
