Lot 1178: 1960's Baltimore Orioles Game Worn Jacket and Cap

ITEM DESCRIPTION

Reserve: $300.00
Winning Bid: $475.06
Price Realized: $567.70
Auction Date:8/28/2006 9:00 PM EST

Well-used Baltimore Orioles nylon satin jacket from pitcher Dick Hall, who wore this size 46 Rawlings black & orange coat in the early to mid 60’s when he was throwing relief for the Orioles, working towards their 1966 World Series title (though he didn’t play in that series, reserving his post-season Baltimore play for the 1969, ’70, and ’71 Series). Hall’s #49 in faded black Sharpie is barely visible on inside collar. All-Star Oriole catcher Andy Etchebarren donned this bird cap in the 60’s just as well, as teammate to Hall, and more than likely receiver to many of Hall’s dazzlers. He made it to the ’66, ’69, ’70, and ’71 World Series. Cap shows lots of use, with a darkened and sweat-stained inner band, and two tears on top of brim. Has his # 8 in black marker under brim, and on back inner band, next to manufacturer’s tag, “Pro KM Cap".
