Lot 1545: Fenway Park Trolley Sign
ITEM DESCRIPTION

For three decades in the early to mid part of the century, the choice was yours, the National League’s Braves or the American League’s Red Sox, but either way you were headed in the same direction, as Boston’s two ballparks were merely a mile in distance apart. This Fenway Park trolley sign hung in the front of a Boston trolley, and reveals the too-close-for comfort proximity of both parks, being that each are advertised on its route, as it reads from top to bottom, “Jamaica Arborway - Subway - Jamaica Huntington - Opera House - Braves Field - Fenway Park - North Station - Francis St. - Egleston - No Stops - Heath St. : Huntington.” Sign is rolled on to long metal, cogged poles, and is made of a black, tough paper material, which only has a few light tears on side and is heavily weathered. It stands the test of time with solid white block lettering, making for a direct route back to Boston, and this item’s 1940’s vintage. It measures 5 feet wide and over 10 feet long, and is EX.
