A pair of Hall of Fame moundsmen offer up exquisite ink samples in this next lot graded and encased by PSA. The first signed check comes from Phillies and Reds great, Eppa Rixey. Dated 6-23-61, it is written entirely in his hand with black fountain pen and closed with his mark, which grades an “8” out of possible “10”. The reverse side has official bank stampings and endorsement, EX+-EX-MT. Lefty Grove’s specimen, issued from The Liberty Trust Company and dated April 4, 1955 (EX-MT), owns his less frequently seen full name autograph, “Robert H. Grove” in blue ballpoint (9/10). Both measure 3x8”.
