A TV legend, the absurdist comedian Andy Kaufman appeared on “Saturday Night Live” before moving on to the series “Taxi” in 1978, where he played the memorable character Latka Gravis. A legendary trickster, Kaufman perpetrated numerous hoaxes throughout his career. It is even rumored that his 1984 death, at age 35, was staged - and that the well-known comedian who played him in a movie based on his life - is actually Kaufman playing himself! The show goes on, and Kaufman is recognized as a unique comedic talent, still retaining his considerable popularity.
