The fabulous Felix the Cat can rightfully claim to be the first TV star. In 1928, experimental New York station W2XBS broadcast the image of a 13" figure of Felix, allowing the emerging technology to be tested and evaluated. Felix, of course was already an extremely popular character, dating to his 1919 movie feature "Feline Follies", appearing nearly a decade before Mickey Mouse. This vintage 1940's - early 1950's painted wood and composite figure is 5" tall, and is a fully jointed "pushup" toy, with a button in the base and inside strings, allowing Felix to spring into full action. "FELIX" appears on the front, and "FTCP Inc." on the rear of the base. The figure works perfectly and is in lovely condition, with a little paint wear and a thin vertical crack at the base.
